Day 4: Your parents
My mom that is. She and I don't exactly see eye to eye ever. Recently we have been bonding over makeup though. It's the one thing we can agree on. She loves when I do her makeup for her and encourages outrageous Sephora binges. She is extremely over protective of me but wants the best for me and to do something with my life.

tokidoki Cromatico Palettes: Adieu, Polpettina and Mozzarella
I love tokidoki. Their products are in adorable packaging, of great quality and well worth the price. The Cromatico Palette are $19 at Sephora.com. They each come with four eye shadows, a mini double-ended brush and a collectable character charm. They are made with rice lipids and vitamin B which makes them very blendable and hydrating for your eyelids. I love the color combinations in these palettes and most likely will get the other two that I'm missing. Each eye shadow comes out to less than $5 which is a great value for product of this quality. All of the colors are very vibrant and last all day without a crease over Two Faced Shadow Insurance. The only downside to the palettes is the extra level under the shadows where the charm is stored. It's a very cute idea and I love my charms; it's just not practical for storage. However it's one small issue that results in getting an adorable charm but still worth mentioning.

30 Day Challenge: Day Three
Day 3: Your first love
My first love... was someone who did not respect me and I'm not on speaking terms with him. What he did to me hurt but I learned that any relationship I have with someone, be it romantic or friendly, needs to have mutual respect. The people I now interact with give more than they take and love me unconditionally.

30 Day Challenge: Day Two
Day 2: Meaning behind your blog name
My blog's name, as you are most likely aware is, Turquiose Garden. It is inspired from the film Grey Gardens, which oddly enough reminds me of my home life. Basically if you haven't seen the movie you need to but it's about a mother and daughter who are both crazy and codependent and mildly abusive with each other. When thinking about the remarkable similarities between my life and Big Edie and Little Edie's, I decided I needed to do something about it. My garden would not be grey because there was no way out for me it would be full of color (turquoise is one of my favorites) because I made it that way and would make my own future as bright as I could.

30 Day Challenge: Day One
Day 1: Introduce, recent picture of yourself, 15 interesting facts
Hello, I'm Kristen, occasionally known on blogger as Kristen Quixotic.
1. More than anything I would like to work at a fashion magazine and do page layouts.
2. I have a ten year old Golden Retriever named Penny.
3. I grew up in a small town in Rhode Island and hate that I still live there a few months out of the year.
4. I attend school in Boston, Massachusetts and love almost everything in Boston.
5. I am obsessed with Harajuku Lovers Perfume and aspire to collection every single one. (I have two and a half collections out of the current four.)
6. I have a tattoo of the word Love on my wrist and want to get a bird cage on my forearm next.
7. I (not so) secretly want to be a pin up girl.
8. I don't drink soda or anything carbonated.
9. I want to live in Europe for at least a year after college.
10. I love to draw.
11. I will purchase basically anything with a pattern, design or vintage-looking picture. I'm pathetic in that way.
12. I read a lot.
13. I'm sort of a stickler for proper grammar and I try to speak correctly even in text messages.
14. I work at a shoe store and thus own more shoes than I care to admit.
15. I get more excited than you could ever guess when I have a new follower or comment or view on my blog.
Thanks for sticking with me through my fifteen facts. Here's the full challenge; I hope you give it a shot too!

Nails of the Day: Purple Leopard
My nails of the day are a purple leopard mani. The base color is two coats of Wet n Wild's Megalast nail color in Bite the Bullet. The spots are Manic Panic's Nail Lacquer in Blood Thirsty with Milani's Nail Art in Black Sketch. This is my first attempt at some kind of free hand nail art but when I saw the london lipgloss's post, I knew I needed to try a leopard mani.

tokidoki lip products: Lip Ink and Prisma Gloss
My love of tokidoki has been ongoing since they launched their makeup products at Sephora. Recently there was a lot of discounted products online so I indulged in a quite a few lip and eye products. I bought two Prisma Glosses, a Lip Ink, a Perfetto eyeliner and a third Cromatico palette.
First of all how cute are the boxes that the Prisma Glosses are packaged in.

Nails of the Day: Red! (and a top coat conundrum)
My nails have two coats of N.Y.C.'s Expert Last Nail Polish in I <3 NY on all nails except the ring finger which has three coats of Deborah Lippmann's Ruby Red Slippers. Everything is covered with a coat of Seche Vite. Picture time!
Click to Enlarge for the glory that is Ruby Red Slippers.
Now on to my situation. I am nearing the bottle of my Seche Vite topcoat which I haven't been loving lately. It's gotten thick and not applying nicely and it shrinks back at the tips something awful. It's almost $8 a bottle and for that price I should be loving it to the last drop. What's your favorite topcoat? Leave suggestions for me in the comment box please! Thanks for reading and your help!

Eye of the Day: Glamourous Indie Rock and Roll
Today's Eye of the Day is named after the Killers' song, Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll. I think it fits the look well; there's glitter and a purple crease above greys.

Lindt Truffle Brownies
Although you probably would not have known this based on my blog posts thus far, I love to bake and cook. My most recent cooking creation is Lindt Truffle Brownies which I made the recipe up myself. They came out really good; they're very chocolatey and dense. The recipe is below and I hope you try these out because they're so good. Let me know in the comment section if you would like baking posts in addition to what I've been posting.

Benefit Dr. Feel Good
I have been dying to try Dr. Feel Good for about a year now based on the packaging alone. I had no idea what a "velvety complexion balm" was and when in Sephora I can usually find other things to take my mind off such conundrums. However after using other Benefit products and being extremely satisfied with them, I decided to give the doctor a try.

Eyes of the Day: Ocean Breathes Salty
I decided that I'm going to name all of my eyes of the day posts after songs. Why? Because I can and it's something fun I haven't seen anyone else do. So today's look is named after Modest Mouse's Ocean Breathes Salty.

Hello Kitty Charmmy Eyeshadow Stick
Sephora and Hello Kitty are two of my weaknesses and when they're combined I sure can't say no and I admire the resistance I put up for months now. However I couldn't resist after trying Kimono on my hand. It's a lovely dark blue with a very subtle pink shimmer. Picture time!
Outside of the stick with Hello Kitty's signature (maybe?).
